Les Anges du génie

The Contest takes place in three (3) stages:

1.1 May 27, 2024, to September 30, 2024: Application period when students submit their engineering projects to the FÉRIQUE Fund Management selection committee.
1.2 November 21, 2024: Presentation of the finalist projects to The Angels, a jury of engineering and finance professionals.
1.3 January 16, 2025: Contest webcast and announcement of the amounts won by the finalist projects.

In these rules, all references to time refer to Eastern Standard Time (EST).

2.1 The Contest is open only to “Eligible Participants”. To be eligible, participants must: 

2.1.1 reside in Quebec;
2.1.2 be eighteen (18) years of age or older during the Contest Period;
2.1.3 submit the application form by the prescribed deadline; and
2.1.4 meet the Contest eligibility criteria, which are set out below.

The submitted project must:

a) be carried out as part of an engineering program at a Quebec university;
b) address one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals* and
c) directly involve the fields of finance or engineering.

2.2 Employees of FÉRIQUE Fund Management and members of their immediate families (brothers, sisters, children, father, mother) and their legal or common-law spouses, as well as members of FÉRIQUE Fund Management’s Board of Directors and committees, as well as employees, mandataries and representatives of their advertising and promotion agencies, are excluded from the Contest, as are suppliers of prizes, materials and services related to the Contest, the FÉRIQUE Funds trustee National Bank Trust (“NBT”) and persons with whom all the persons referred to above are domiciled (“Excluded Persons”).

2.3 By taking part in the Contest, Eligible Participants agree to the rules of participation and to the decisions of FÉRIQUE Fund Management as the organizer of the Contest, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. To win a prize, it is necessary to take part in the Contest and to meet all the requirements.

3.1 Participation in the Contest is free of charge and no purchase is necessary.

3.2 Participation in the Contest is automatically registered on receipt of the duly completed application form by the entry deadline.

3.3 The deadline to submit the application form is September 30, 2024, no later than 5:00  p.m

3.4 Each Participant may enter the Contest only once. 

4.1  A total of eleven (11) prizes will be awarded, according to the terms and conditions set out in section 5, to projects that meet the conditions of participation. A total of $35,000 in prizes will be awarded to the nine (9) winning projects. The prizes will be awarded as follows:

• $5,000 to each of the five finalist projects taking part to the show Les Anges du génie;
• $5,000 for the FÉRIQUE Favourite;
• $1,000 for the People’s Choice; and 
• $1,000 for each of the four pre-finalist teams.

4.2 The amounts of money, as set out in subsection 4.1, will be deposited by the Sponsor into the account of the student association specific to the student project that wins the prize, and must be used by the Eligible Participants to finance the selected project.

4. 3 The prizes must be accepted as awarded and may not be substituted, transferred or exchanged, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor, which reserves the right to substitute prizes whose value is equal to the value of the announced prizes if, for any reason, the prizes cannot be awarded as announced.

5.1 The winning projects will be selected in three phases:

5.1.1 Phase 1: In October 2024, a FÉRIQUE Fund Management selection committee will evaluate the applications and submit a shortlist to The Angels, a jury that will select nine finalist projects.
5.1.2 Phase 2: During the week of October 28, FÉRIQUE Fund Management will contact the finalist project managers by telephone or email to announce that their projects have been selected. The representatives of the five projects that stand out the most amongst the nine finalist projects will be invited to take part in the filming of the show, including the presentation of the prizes.
5.1.3 Phase 3: The representatives of the finalist projects will be invited to present their projects to The Angels on November 21, 2024. The winning projects will be announced publicly when the show airs on January 16, 2025.

5.2 The selection of the finalist projects by the FÉRIQUE Fund Management selection committee is final and without appeal.

5.3 The breakdown of the prizes awarded by The Angels is final and without appeal.

5.4 The representatives of the finalist projects must take part in the filming of the show before the jury on November 21, 2024, for their project to be eligible for an award, and they must commit to promoting the show, which will be webcast on January 16, 2025, when the winning projects will be announced publicly.

6.1 To receive the prizes, Eligible Participants must meet the following conditions:

6.1.1 Be an Eligible Participant by meeting the criteria set out in section 2;
6.1.2 Be reachable in the province of Quebec at the telephone number provided in the application;
6.1.3 Return the Contest Sponsor's phone call within seven (7) days and no later than 4:30 p.m.; and .
6.1.4 Take part in person in the filming of the show with The Angels on November 21, 2024.

6.2 Failure to comply with any of the conditions set out above or any condition set out in these rules will cause the selected Eligible Participants to be disqualified.

7.1 By entering the Contest, Eligible Participants agree to abide by the Contest rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final.

7.2    FÉRIQUE Fund Management reserves the right to disqualify a project or to cancel a candidate’s participation if he or she attempts to enter the Contest by any means that is contrary to the rules or unfair to the other Eligible Participants.

7.3    No information collected for the purposes of the Contest will be used in any subsequent contest. 

7.4 The Sponsor is not responsible for the malfunction of any computer component, software or communication line, the loss or absence of network communications, or any transmissions that are faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible or deleted by any computer or network and that may limit or prevent any person from taking part in the Contest, or for human errors of any kind.

7.5 The Sponsor is not responsible for any damage or loss that may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by the downloading of any software or form, or by the transmission of any information related to participation in the Contest.

7.6 The data collected during the Contest are for the exclusive use of FÉRIQUE Fund Management and cannot be sold or transferred to other companies. The Participants may at any time request that any data collected in their name during the Contest be deleted by sending an email to lesanges@ferique.com with the following information: first name, family name, email address, mailing address, telephone number and subject of the request. Even so, one contact person must be kept for each application, otherwise the project will no longer be eligible for the Contest. 

7.7 The winners’ names, statements concerning their prizes, places of residence, photos or other likenesses may be used for publicity purposes without further compensation, and the winners consent to such use by accepting a prize.

7.8 The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.

7.9 The prize winners shall hold FÉRIQUE Fund Management, its employees, mandataries and representatives harmless from any and all liability with respect to damages, harm or loss that may arise from receipt or use of their prizes. Each selected Participant acknowledges that, from the time he or she is informed of the terms and conditions of the award of his or her prize, the performance of the obligations related to the prize becomes the sole and exclusive responsibility of the various suppliers of products and services.

7.10 FÉRIQUE Fund Management reserves the right to modify or to terminate the Contest rules at its sole discretion at any time without incurring liability. Changes to the Contest rules will be posted on the Engineering Angels web page at: https://www.ferique.com/angels
